What Afterhours is

A camera app whose cameras behave like the hardware they're named after — not filter packs, not preset menus. The AFTERHOURS shelf ships twelve vintage-capture cameras: camcorders, disposables, digicams, an instant-film Polaroid, a Super 8 cine camera, a CRT playback fiction, and a computational-glass camera. The FILM shelf ships eight film-forward cameras — black-and-white, warm negative, natural colour, muted, vivid, tungsten night, daylight negative, and a rotating daily. See the full shelf.

Why camera simulation, not filters

A filter changes how a photo looks. A camera simulation also changes how it's taken. Shot counts. Delayed development. Slow-sync flash fusion. Bimodal capture grade. Signal-chain math. Who makes it

Afterhours Camera is developed by Peter Garcia, founder of Bricks & Canvas. Peter designs and builds every camera in the app, writes the engineering docs, and publishes the editorial guides on this site. The technical claims about capture behaviour in every guide and camera page are drawn from the shipping app's source of truth.

Editorial policy

Guides published on this site follow a documented editorial policy: direct answers near the top of every page, an explicit disclosure when Afterhours is one of the apps being compared, honest recommendations of competing apps when they're a better fit, cited primary sources for technical claims, and no fabricated user reviews, prices, or test results. Comparison guides are reviewed at least quarterly, or immediately after a material change to Afterhours or a competing app. Reviewed dates are visible on every guide and camera page.

Privacy

Everything runs on-device. No captured photo or video ever leaves the phone. No account is required to use the app. The only data that leaves the device is a purchase receipt for optional paid camera unlocks, handled by RevenueCat under an anonymous subscriber ID. Full detail: Privacy Policy.
